    Description

    1853 Braided hair half cent.
NONE of my coins are cleaned as this is the worst thing you can do to them. It renders them worthless as many of you know. For you newbies,
a dull, dirty Penny is worth far more than a cleaned one. Those who buy coins can tell immediately that a coin ha# been cleaned, even rubbed.
It becomes as obvious as looking at a car that has been spray painted so leave them be and you will see that people will find interest…assuming you have some clue a# to what you are listing. Please tell me this pandemic doesn’t cause all you newbies to sanitize your coins😬
Grading companies charge extra if you want them to find errors / varieties. Very odd to me that they will put a coin into a holder knowing it is worth 10 x more due to a variety but b/c customer did not pay extra, it gets certified incorrectly. Given this fact, many DDO’s, RPM’s etc go completely unnoticed and undocumented. There are indeed many “certified” coins with
extremely valuable varieties that are not picked up simply b/c a customer did not want to pay extra $$ or they themselves were unaware that their coin was a DDO or RPM…etc.
I have never and prob will never send my coins to a grading company.
Any “certified” coins I own were on someone else’s dime. I can’t imagine paying an extra - to have a coin checked for a variety or mint error.
I suppose with a very valuable coin where a variety may increase value 10 fold+, then yes it would make sense.
