Description

1887 Cottage reed organ.
It has been cleaned, but the outside patina is original.  Some of the stop labels are missing.
This is a partially restored organ.   The label is faded and it was manufactured in May 1887.
The fabric was worn and replaced over the sound holes.
The reeds were not adjusted, however they were cleaned.  No attempt was made to tune the reeds.
The billows - some pin holes were sealed.
The original leather flaps for the valves were broken and had to be replaced with new leather.
The interior wood surfaces were treated with a light coat of linseed oil.
The leather straps for the stop mechanisms were replaced with leather ones.  They were cut to the same size of the originals.
The foot pedal straps were replaced with new cotton straps which were essentially the same.
All the original leather and material have been retained and are included in this sale.  The white strap is not included, but is only shown to show what was used to replace the foot pedal straps.
The original wood wheels were broken or missing. New hardwood wood wheels were recreated on a lathe and installed.
