    African Ibibio Fatting Carved Wooden Tribal Art Doll. This doll is believed to be at least 100 years old. These dolls were given to young unwed girls at the time of entering the Ibibio fatting house by their Ebere Society sponsor and are carried by the girl throughout her sojourn there. The doll symbolizes the beautiful child the maiden is to bear within the year after she leaves the fatting house and is married. Very good condition! Stands about 8.5" tall.
