    Description

    This is an outstanding ethnographic relic imported from the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria. It is a large babalawo crown which has been intricately-beaded with hundreds of tiny beads in various colors for the 7 African Powers. There are eleven three-dimensional birds perched around and on top of the crown and two spirit faces to each side. Beaded strands dangle from the base to separate this world from the unseen one. The base has been made from thick muslin and cotton fiber and is very sturdy. This crown measures approximately 18" in height by 10" in diameter and the beads at the base hang 18".
